Specialties & Nursing Units
Our urban academic medical center setting offers versatility and variety to the nurse who wants to expand his or her practice and knowledge. Because we serve patients across the entire healthcare continuum, our nurses can explore various interests and specialties that are not available at smaller hospitals.
Jefferson nurses practice in a wide range of specialties including critical care, medical/surgical, perioperative, emergency and more. There are also opportunities in outpatient and specialty procedural areas. Experienced nurses are encouraged to pursue specialty interests and earn advanced degrees and certifications.
Nurses work at our three Philadelphia Hospital locations including the Main Campus, the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience (both in Center City), and at Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia.
Jefferson’s expert critical care nurses provide vigilant and compassionate care for critically ill patients and their families.
Nurses on Jefferson’s Medical/Surgical Units manage the care of patients of all ages with multiple medical/surgical diagnoses and diagnoses across all medical specialties including oncology, cardiology, transplant, orthopedic, rehab, trauma, gynecology and urology.
Peri-operative nurses work side-by-side with renowned surgeons utilizing innovative technology from minimally invasive procedures to complex robotic surgery and transplants.

Jefferson’s outpatient nurses provide expert care for patients who need medical procedures that do not require an overnight stay at a hospital or medical facility.
